I must say, I get a big kick out of Ash Wednesday. During the rest of the year, we all walk around, incognito, minding our own business. But on Ash Wednesday, its almost like all the Catholics go in to Headquarters to sign in for the year. Like Dave, the male nurse at our pediatrician's office, or, imagine the irony, the guy behind the fish counter at Wegmans today. Its kind of like doing geneology and finding out the guy who lives next door is a distant relative. I feel so connected.
Mass tonight was rather amusing. Catherine kept blowing on my forehead, to make the ashes go away. I'm not sure if she gets her Lenten wish if she succeeds, but she didn't, so I guess it doesn't really matter.
